Movies, books,\u00a0and news outlets have created and perpetuated a false, but stereotypical\u00a0view\u00a0of sharks. This\u00a0misguided\u00a0hatred\u00a0has\u00a0caused\u00a0a lack of compassion\u00a0 or understanding\u00a0about sharks&#8217;\u00a0significant role in the\u00a0health of the ocean. People hear even less about\u00a0skates and rays.<\/p>\n<p>On average, only 10 people are killed by sharks a year &#8212; in the entire world. BUT <strong>people kill more than<\/strong> <strong>11,000 sharks\u00a0EVERY HOUR of every day<\/strong>. Can you imagine people remaining mum if that\u00a0number were whales? Dolphins? Penguins? Or some other popular\u00a0species? Never.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll say it again, \u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>People\u00a0are not doing\u00a0their best\u00a0to protect sharks.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>WhaleTimes\u00a0believes kids are the future of sharks. No one is louder and more enthusiastic than a kid who cares. Kids love sharks.
