Fintastic Friday<\/em> celebrates sharks and encourages\u00a0everyone to find ways to change public opinion about from hatred to love and fear to appreciation. Think of it as Earth Day for sharks!<\/p>\n

Why a day for sharks? Shark, ray, and skate\u00a0populations throughout the world are in peril, some threatened and\u00a0others critically endangered. All of them need more people to care<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We know people and\u00a0scientists can encourage\u00a0governments\u00a0to save sharks the same way they pushed for\u00a0protection of\u00a0whales so long ago. In fact, there are many countries stepping up to protect sharks by creating sanctuaries for sharks, but more need to be part of the solution.<\/p>\n

To celebrate we want you to meet just a few<\/span>\u00a0scientists and organizations working to protect sharks, skates, and rays\u00a0throughout the world. We suggest you send them all a\u00a0big sharky thank you! (see the Big as Life Thank You idea on our Fintastic Friday<\/a> page)<\/p>\n
