Happy Hagfish Day! October 21, 2026
Seventeen years ago, WhaleTimes created Hagfish Day to celebrate the beauty of ugly.
The goal: To raise awareness of all kinds of ocean animals, especially those that are less fortunate in the looks and behavior department. Why? All animals play an important role in their habitat, whether they’re as cute as a dumbo octopus or as slimy as a hagfish.
Meet the amazing Hagfish Day stars and check out our activities to find some excellent ways you can celebrate some slime time!
How are you celebrating? Making slime? Sending a hagfish bouquet to a friend?
